Who We Are
Smolka Strachan LLP is a firm of Chartered Surveyors advising institutions, corporates and private clients who develop and invest in commercial property in Scotland and throughout the United Kingdom.
Peter Smolka worked in the Sterling Interbank, Foreign Exchange and Financial Futures markets in the City of London and with British Linen Bank in Edinburgh before joining Hillier Parker in Edinburgh in 1989 with responsibility for their investment business in Scotland until 2003 when he established his commercial property investment practice.
Guy Strachan is a Chartered Surveyor and has practiced as both principal and adviser over the last 35 years initially with Standard Life and subsequently with Gooch & Wagstaff, Colliers International, Reith Lambert and GVA (now Avison Young) before joining forces with Peter in 2008.
What We Do
We draw on our collective knowledge, experience and extensive contacts to provide a personal service advising on the acquisition and disposal of income producing investments and on funding for commercial property development.
Our clients include institutional, overseas and private investors, family trusts and property companies.
Our areas of expertise are the office, retail and industrial sectors and in recent years we have been active in alternative sectors such as student housing, hotels and leisure.
We have a proven track record in development funding and we help clients create and implement management strategies for new acquisitions and existing properties.
